OWNER: Under the Work Place Health and Safety Act 1995 is defined to include a person who has control of or manages a workplace and a lessee, licensee, mortgagee in possession and a receiver or company administrator. To comply with the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997 National Code of Practice for the management and control of Asbestos in Workplaces [NOHSC:2018(2005) ] All workplaces built prior to 1990 [A structure or a part of a structure that is a work place only if all or part of the structure was built under an approval given by a local government before 1 January 1990.] must have an asbestos audit conducted. All workplaces are required to identify, label and register all asbestos-containing materials. Even if no asbestos is found, a register should still be kept which records this fact. The owner of the structure or part must comply with the asbestos management code on or before 1 January 2008 by having an Asbestos Audit / Management Plan or evidence that the building has been professionally inspected. If asbestos is found re-inspections are to be conducted at least annually. If you require an update of the current report or have not had an inspection / report but wish to be covered please contact the office on Government Legislation states that ALL ASBESTOS:- MATERIAL (loose friable e.g. Insulation) and PRODUCTS( tightly bonded e.g. sheeting) are to be classed simply as ASBESTOS-CONTAINING MATERIAL and all are to be audited and recorded in an Asbestos register and a Management Plan put into place.
